2011 so far...

It's been quite a while since I showed our blog any attention. So far 2011 hasn't given us much to blog about. Anthony and I have been extremely busy with our jobs and other than that life has been a little boring. We did manage to sneak away for Anthony's birthday celebration. We went to Orlando for a weekend and enjoyed Universal Studios, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Howl at the Moon. Mostly we just enjoyed having time to relax without papers to grade (for Alisha) or questions to answer at the gym (for Anthony.)

Valentine's Day was nice this year. Anthony surprised me with a gift certificate for a massage! I surprised him with a gift card for World of Warcraft play time. The one thing I didn't receive this year was candy, at my request. I've been on Weight Watchers now for almost 8 weeks and I've lost 14.2 pounds. It's definitely been a positive experience so far. I am in love with the fact that this is a life choice, a healthy decision I'm making to alter the way I view food. I know a lot of people who use diet pills to take off weight. It works of course, but once the pills are gone the weight comes back. I'm not interested in gaining this weight back, that's why I'm making this choice to change my eating habits. Overall, it's given me a huge amount of respect for what my mom has accomplished with WW! I'm so proud of her, not just for loosing weight, but for keeping it off all this time. I am now learning that it certainly wasn't easy! I'm looking forward to getting the rest of my excess weight off! Especially the next 5.8 because when I reach 20lbs I'm rewarding myself with something I've wanted for a long time....a Kindle 3g!!!

Check back for my progress. I'll try a little harder to keep this blog up to date in the coming months!

Christmas Time 2010

Anthony and I are getting ready to celebrate our first Christmas together as a married couple. Our Christmas this year will be very similar to the last 2 years...we'll go to Nana's on December 23rd for our big family Christmas. On Christmas Eve we will go to Mom and Dad's and have dinner, open pj's and spend the night. Christmas morning we will open gifts and enjoy pancakes before heading home to have our own Christmas at our apartment. I love the traditions, and I love that not much is changing this year. I know in the following years once we have children, or once my brother and his wife have children, that things will become more hectic and schedules will undoubtedly change. It's nice in a year with so much change that our Christmas will basically stay the same!

I had a great time decorating this year! Our apartment definitely looks like it has the holiday spirit!

I even decided to decorate the outside of our apartment since we had our very first Christmas party this year.

I have always enjoyed this time of the year and I feel like I appreciate it more and more as I'm getting older. It's funny how you stop caring so much about gifts as you get older and start caring more about the time you are able to spend with the ones you love. I'm looking forward to the next three days with my family and making new memories together. I hope you all have a blessed Christmas with your own families!

What Did You Do in 2010?

I'm going to give blogging a second chance. Last time I lost track of my blog and then felt overwhelmed by the amount of time that had gone by so I quit. Now I'm starting fresh with a new blog about our lives that I will hopefully keep updated frequently.

This first post I wanted to fill everyone in on what our life was like in 2010. I can sum it up in one word: WEDDING. Ours, yours, theirs...it seems like everyone had a wedding this year. Anthony and I attended 5, I was a bridesmaid in 3, and then of course we had our own. It was such a fun time witnessing our friends and family join together with the ones they love! The first wedding really took place in October 2009 but I think of it as the kick off to the whole year! Aimee my long time friend married Josh and thus began our fun filled year of parties, showers, and wedding food!

Next was my friend Jessica. Jessica and Kelly were married in March 2010. She was such a beautiful bride! For her wedding we went to St. Augustine which is a really cool place.

On May 1st two of our friends tied the knot in Estero. Amanda and Ian's wedding was really pretty and we had a wonderful time! Anthony even caught the garter!

On May 15 my brother and Meg were married. It was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had. Watching my little brother get married was a little more emotional than I planned, but it was truly amazing!

Then one month later Anthony and I traveled to Colorado for his sister's wedding. Brianne and Bryan were married on a mountain and it was really beautiful!

October 16th we ended our year of weddings with a wedding of our own. Our wedding was everything we hoped it would be and we have been enjoying married life immensely!

Of course there have been numerous changes in our lives that have nothing to do with weddings; Anthony received not one, but two promotions this year! He is now the Association Training Director for Charlotte County YMCA. I'm so proud of him! I'm still teaching at Hardee Junior High but I'm now teaching intensive reading which has been a big adjustment. But as you can see, the weddings were the focus this year! I hope everyone has enjoyed 2010 as much as we have! If not, make the last 3 weeks count!
